Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones. They are often basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well, but they can be other types. The heat is both deeply relaxing and helps tight muscles release.

What Happens During a Hot Stone Massage?

Before you arrive, the massage therapist sanitizes the stones (very important!) and heats them in 120 to 150 degree water.

During the massage, the therapist warms up the body with traditional Swedish massage, then massages you while holding a heated stone. As the stone cools, the therapist replaces it with another.

The therapist might also leave heated stones in specific points along your spine, in the palms of your hand, on your belly, or even between your toes to improve the flow of energy in your body.

If you have inflammation or muscle injury, cold stones are sometimes used.

Spa Facials

Spa Facials

A facial is a skin treatment that deeply cleanses and maintains the skin by exfoliating excess dead skin cells. This explains the benefits of facials, how often you should get them, and what to expect from your esthetician.

Facials are the second most popular spa treatment, after massage. They promote clean, beautiful skin through deep cleansing and a treatment that addresses your specific skin type.

Things you will need
Facial moisturizer, facial cleanser, face masks, cotton balls, towels, large bowl of hot steamy water, face scrub and eye cream.

Time required : 30- 45 minutes

The Process
Relax your mind: To relax the mind, lure your senses by turning off the bright lights. Light some aromatic candles in the bathroom with a soft music at the background.

Cleanse your skin: Cleansers help to get rid of dirt and make up without any traces. With the help of a milk cleanser clean the skin gently in a circular motion. Apply the cleanser to your face and throat, and use upward circular motions, to all the way up to the hairline, and down to the breastbone. After a fine massage, rinse well with warm water and pat it dry

Exfoliate : Exfoliate your face with a gentle face scrub. You can use a grain-based scrub like oatmeal and apricot Concentrate on the areas around your nose and forehead. For a combination skin, work harder on the areas that are more oily. Make sure to use scrubs that don't dry your face. Rinse it with lukewarm water.

Steaming time: Steaming is essential as it opens the pores and increases circulation on the skin's surface. Select herbs like s lavender, mint or calendula for dry skin or mint, lavender, rose and witch hazel, for oily skin or try calendula, chamomile, or comfrey for sensitve skin and boil it in a bowl of water. Pour hot steamy water in a large bowl and bring it to the place you are going to do the facial. Lean your face over the bowl about a foot away and cover your head and the bowl to preserve the steam. If you feel a burning sensation then stop for few seconds and repeat it. Keep the steam going for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Tonic: As the pores are open, your skin is in ideal state for maximum absorption. So, gently massage a regenerating serum or tonic at this stage.

Spa Treatment

Spa Treatment

A spa is always thought to be an exotic place and is often considered out of reach.

Ingredients: The following ingredients are required for the spa preparation. A fine sea salt, honey, distilled water, and a few drops of lemongrass, rosewood, ylang ylang, an aromatic blend and Rhassoul. Rhassoul is difficult to get and it is found in the Atlas mountains.

It has many benefits as it aids in the detoxification, cleansing and degreasing process. It is available at most health food stores. If you cannot find it, you can substitute green clay in its place.

Preparation: Mix half a cup or three fourths of a cup of distilled water with a tablespoon of honey. If necessary, the honey may be heated. Add to this mixture the essential oils of lemongrass, rosewood and ylang ylang, the sea salt and one packet of Rhassoul.

Application: Prepare the room for the treatment. Warm four bath towels by wetting them and setting them at a low heat. Use these to cover the massage table.

You can also use a plastic sheet to cover the massage table and minimize mess. The person getting the massage should wear as little clothing as possible. A two piece bathing suit that is disposable is recommended.

The next step is to evenly apply the paste all over the client’s body. Once the application has been completed, wrap the client in the plastic sheets and towels. Ensure that the client has enough breathing room and is not uncomfortable. This mixture should be left on for at least a half an hour.

During this time, a face, neck and head massage may be completed. Care should be taken to heat the towels as needed to maintain warmth, but to ensure that the client is not too hot. The paste is then removed with a wet towel.

How You Take Care Of Your Skin

How You Take Care Of Your Skin

The NUMBER ONE rule for having good, clear skin is to clean it the right way. A clean skin is a healthy skin.

Proper cleansing removes the irritating and poisonous agents and germs that could hurt your skin or, by absorption through the skin, actually cause harm to other parts of your body. There are many ways to clean your skin, but the good, old-fashioned soap and water routine is really the best, most efficient and least expensive method.

What are some of the things you want to wash away to keep your skin clean and healthy-looking?

First of all, you have substances produced by your own body:

Dead, horny cells from the very upper layers of the skin. If these are not regularly washed off, your complexion will be dull and lifeless.

Sweat from the millions of sweat glands all over your body. A lot of this sweat is responsible for body odor.

Sebum, the oily material that gives the skin its softness and elasticity. When this oily substance builds up, acne pimples result.

Ear wax and old hair and nail cells, just sitting there on your skin, up to no good.

Then there are the substances coming from the environment:

Pollutants found in the air, such as smoke, soot, dust, pollens, and exhaust fumes from cars, busses, trucks.

Materials around your work place, such as grease and grime from gas stations and fast-food restaurants.

Things found in your own home. These could be paints, glues, resins, clothing, bedding, carpeting, house spraysÂ* even belly-button lint!

All the bottles, jars, and sprays of "who-knows-what" you apply to your skin by design, such as cosmetics, suntan lotions, perfumes, and surface medications.

Various" friendly" germs which live normally on your skin.

Regular washing with soap and water rinses and flushes this skin garbage away, cleans the pores, reduces odor, and cuts down the risk of infection and disease. Your clean skin will look soft, glowing, and healthy. Its circulation will improve, encouraging the growth of healthy cells, and your skin will breathe better. All this, by just washing your face three times a day.

A word on cleansing creams used mostly to remove make-up. While your make-up seems to disappear, youand#39:re actually left with an irritating combination of cream, leftover make-up, and other impurities that were already onthe skin . This leftover mess not only irritates your skin but also can clog the pores, leading to blackheads and whiteheads. If you try to remove it with tissues, you only further clog up the pore openings.

Let’s face it, only soap and water will really get your skin clean. Washing your face three times a day with a mild, gentle soap is the most important advice I can give. If you want to take off make-up with a cleansing cream, follow it up with soap and water to get rid of all that mess than can only cause problems.

The kind of soap-you use on your face is a matter of personal choice, but watch out for the ones that are irritating or canand#39:t be completely rinsed off. The so-called cold cream soaps, although they are fairly mild and gentle, always leave a film of cold cream, plugging up the oil glands which are already working hard to get rid of their normal oil supply. The deodorant and antibacterial soaps can be especially irritating to facial skin because they leave a residue of chemicals on your skin to destroy germs. If you have a body odor problem, use these types of soaps only below the neck.

Vitamins for Skin

Vitamins for Skin

1.Vitamin A :- The Strongest Wrinkle Fighter.
Vitamin A is essential for the formation of healthy skin
cells.Deficiency of Vitamin A over a long period of time can lead to thick itchy dry skin which can be prone to infection. Taking vitamin A as a supplement can also be helpful for treating many skin disorders such as acne eczema rashes and infections.

2.Vitamin B :- The Skin Conditioner.
The B vitamins are important for skin and nerve health. It may be helpful to take if you suffer from dull skin.

3.Vitamin C :- The Skins Defense System.
One of vitamin Cs main role is the manufacture of collagen the substance which forms the basis of connective tissue or the glue that holds the skin cells together. Collagen fibres act to hold the skin taut and firm as we age. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant which means it is able to neutralise the dangerous molecules called free radicals that form when the body is exposed to sunlight smog and cigarette smoke.

4.Vitamin E :- For Extra Protection.
Both vitamin C and vitamin E have been shown to protect the skin against sun damage. Vitamin E is an oil so it helps to soften the complexion. Taken as a supplement vitamin E is absorbed into cell membranes where it acts as an antioxidant protecting the cells from damage.

5.Vitamin E comes in different forms :- the more potent version is alpha tocopherol. You can add the contents of a vitamin E capsule to your regular moisturiser.

Oil Cleansing Method

Oil Cleansing Method

First and foremost, this is typically done in the evening, prior to bed. There should be no need for deep cleansing in the morning if youand#39:re waking up with skin cleansed the night before. In the morning, a quick wipe with a warm washcloth should suffice. We donand#39:t want to overcleanse our skin as this will serve only to irritate and cause more oil production. The objective of using this method is to deep clean while balancing our skins oil production at the same time.

1. Youand#39:ll need a soft washcloth, your oil blend, and hot, running water.

2. Pour a generous puddle of oil into the palm of your hand. Roughly, the size of a quarter, but more is acceptable. Rub your hands together to warm the oil and smooth over your face.

3. Begin massaging the oil into your face. This will remove makeup, dirt, and other impurities, so there is no need to use a makeup remover or wash your face prior to the massage. I have found that this removes even my stubborn waterproof mascara and concealor.

4. Using slow, firm motions across the skin, massage the oil deeply into your pores. Take your time and focus on your problem areas. You want the oil to work into your pores so that blackheads and the like can be dissolved and steamed away.

5. As youand#39:re massaging, let your mind drift off to something calming and breathe deeply. Take this time to relax and release some of the stress that your body is harboring. Sit down, breathe deeply, and take your time. Give the oil enough time to work on dissolving the impurities in your pores and give yourself enough time to unwind. Picture what your face would look like if it were completely clear and free from blemishes. Focus on that image and know that it is attainable. Trust that it is attainable. Accept that it is attainable. You can have clear skin, free of blemishes and you will have clear skin, free of blemishes. Focus on perfect skin and breathe deeply.

6. Once youand#39:re satisfied that your pores are saturated and youand#39:re feeling calm, pick up your washcloth and soak it in clean, steamy water. We want the water to be warm enough to open your pores and remove the oil. Cool water will not open your pores, nor will it remove the oil efficiently. Weand#39:re not scalding our skin, weand#39:re steaming to coax our pores to release the oil carrying the impurities.
Weand#39:re essentially steaming our skin as an esthetician would, but without the luxury of a steam machine.

7. Hold the washcloth to cover your face. Allow it to stay until it cools. You will feel your pores releasing the impurities. Wipe the oil gently away and rinse the washcloth well in hot, running water. Hold the washcloth to your face again, allowing it to cool. Wipe gently, rinse well, and repeat two or three more times. Avoid any temptation to scrub, as youand#39:ll find itand#39:s completely unnecessary and your skin will be soft, smooth, and free of flakes without the additional manual exfoliation and irritation that will result. Impurities, dead skin cells, and bacteria will be gently swept away.

8. Have no fear of the oil, as the steamy washcloth will remove it. The Castor Oil, though it is an oil, will help with the removal of the other oils, as well. It is our main cleansing oil and is easily removed with warm water.

9. If your skin feels tight, take a tiny drop of your oil blend, rub it between your clean, damp palms and pat it onto your damp skin. Gently massage any oil residue into your skin so there is no film of oil left sitting on the surface. Your skin should now glow!
